Should I study the Diploma of IT, or the Advanced Diploma of IT?
Great question! Many of our students choose to study the Diploma of Information Technology followed by an Advanced Diploma of Information Technology. The Diploma of Information Technology builds specialised skills in web development while also developing your IT knowledge in other areas. For example, it builds skills in virtual computing environments, database management, mobile applications and dynamic websites. This course takes 18 months to complete. Studying a Diploma of Information Technology can be a good choice if you’re looking to specialise in web development, or are seeking a pathway to an Advanced Diploma or a Bachelor of Cyber Security. On the other hand, the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology can be a good choice if you already have some IT skills and are looking to specialise in cyber security, IT management or telecommunications network engineering. This course takes 2 years to complete and opens the door to more senior job opportunities than the Diploma of IT. As a graduate of ACBI’s Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security), you can also can entry into a Bachelor of Cyber Security at AIBI Higher Education. You’ll gain up to 70 credit points towards your degree. For advice on which course(s) might best suit your individual needs, connect with a Course Advisor.

You can apply to enrol in two or more qualifications at ACBI, studying one after the other. Simply select your desired courses when completing your online application form. We recommend packaging the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Telecommunications Network Engineering) with one or more of the following courses:
  • Diploma of Information Technology (Web Development)
  • Diploma of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Which version of ACBI’s Advanced Diploma of IT should I study?
Good question. ACBI offers three versions of the Advanced Diploma of IT:
  • One focused on IT management
  • One specialised in cyber security, and
  • One specialised in telecommunications network engineering
The Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (with a management focus) can be a good choice if you’re looking to build a blend of business and IT skills that can enable you to work in a role like being an IT Manager or IT Project Manager. On the other hand, choosing an Advanced Diploma of IT with a specialisation in cyber security or telecommunications network engineering will help you develop more technically-focused, practical IT skills. For advice on which course might best suit your individual needs, connect with a Course Advisor.
