How do I apply to study at ACBI?

You can apply to study qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Graduate Diploma course) using the online application form. To ensure your application can be processed efficiently, please make sure to upload the necessary documents outlined in the last step in the online application form.

To apply to study short courses with ACBI, including various micro credentials, please use the “Apply now” buttons located on each short course page. You can browse our short courses here.

Can I enrol in a ‘double diploma’ or ‘package courses’?

Yes! Studying multiple qualifications is an excellent way to boost your skills and make yourself more attractive to employers. You can apply to enrol in two or more qualifications at ACBI, studying one after the other. Simply select your desired courses when completing the online application form.

For example, you may wish to enrol in both a Certificate IV and Diploma course, or a Diploma and Advanced Diploma course.

How do I know if I'm a domestic student or an international student?
You are considered a domestic student if you are:

An Australian citizen (including dual nationals)

An Australian permanent resident

A New Zealand citizen

A holder of an eligible humanitarian visa

On the other hand, you are considered an international student if you:

Do not hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency

Are in Australia on a temporary visa (e.g., a student visa)
What are the entry requirements for my course?

Each course has specific academic and sometimes work experience requirements, which are listed on the relevant course pages on our website and in our course guide. Certain courses may also require specific prerequisites to be met, and, in these instances, additionaldocuments may be requested.

If you’re an international student and not a native English speaker, proof of your English language skills may also be required. ACBI’s qualifications typically require an IELTS level of 6.0 or equivalent.
I want to apply for a qualification. What documents do I need to submit with my application?
To ensure your application can be processed efficiently, it’s a good idea to upload:

A copy of your passport

Academic completion certificate (and transcript if you’re an international student)

English proficiency proof (if you’re an international student)

A copy of your resume

I’m an international student. Can I apply myself, or do I need to apply through an agent?
Can I study online, on campus, or both?

Most ACBI qualifications and short courses can be delivered in flexible modes, including online and blended options, allowing learners to fit their study around work and personal commitments.

Please note that international students are required to attend face-to-face classes on-campus as per Student Visa requirements,however, limited distance learning may be included where appropriate.

How much do the courses cost and what payment options are available?

Course fees vary by program length and study level, with a range of payment plans and flexible options available. Funding or promotional discounts may also be available for certain qualifications. What’s it like to study online?

Studying online with ACBI is flexible and self-paced, designed to fit around your life while still giving you strong support from trainers and staff. You’ll learn through our online learning platforms where you can access resources, submit assessments and stay on top of your progress in your own time.

We also offer weekly online support sessions with trainers, where you can ask questions about your assessments and course content to get real‑time guidance. Alongside this, our academic team provides additional academic support, so you’re never on your own if you need help with study skills, understanding requirements or planning your workload.
Are there any age restrictions for ACBI’s courses?

Age requirements vary for ACBI’s qualifications.

If you’re an international student or wish to study on-campus, the minimum age to enrol is 18 years old.

If you’re a domestic student looking to study online, some qualifications allow enrolments from people aged 16 years and older. For specific details, check the course page for the course you’re interested in.

Typically, no age restrictions apply to ACBI’s short courses.
Do I need prior work experience for certain courses?

Some courses, such as BSB80320 Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership and TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment have specific pre-requisites relating to previous work experience. You can check whether the course you’re interested in applying for has any additional entry requirements by checking the course page.

What English proficiency tests are accepted (E.g., IELTS, PTE or TOEFL) and what minimum scores are required?

ACBI accepts a range of English proficiency tests including IELTS. For full details on these tests and their minimum score requirements, please refer to the table below.

Can I take an internal English placement test with ACBI?

ACBI’s English Placement Test (EPT) is only available to international applicants who are not required to submitproof of English proficiency as part of their student visa application. The EPT is also not accessible to applicants who are actively enrolled in an ELICOS pathway, who must provide a completion certificate from their ELICOS provider to satisfy the English language entry requirements.
How many intake dates does ACBI have per year?
For on-campus classes, ACBI has 8 intakes per year. These intakes are split into four main terms with two intakes per term. These include intakes for:

Term 1 & Term 1A: January – February

Term 2 & Term 2A: April – May

Term 3 & Term 3A: July – August

Term 4 & Term 4A: October – November

For online study, intakes typically commence on the 1st day of each month.

As an international student, what happens if my student visa application is refused?

If your student visa is refused whilst you are overseas, you will be eligible to receive a full refund of your pre-paid tuition fees.
If your student visa is refused whilst you are onshore and you have been able to study whilst holding a valid bridging visa, you will be eligible for a refund of any unspent tuition fees for future terms. No refund will be applicable for the current term.
Can I get a refund if I withdraw before the course starts?

If you withdraw prior to your course commencement date, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund of your pre-paid tuition fees depending on when you notify ACBI of your intent to withdraw. For full details, please refer to the ACBI Refund Policy available on the website. This information will also be included in your Letter of Offer and Enrolment Acceptance Agreement.
What is the difference between RPL and Credit Transfer?

RPL stands for Recognised Prior Learning. It is a process that assesses your existing skills, knowledge and experience gained through prior work experience or training against the requirements of a qualification or unit of competency. If you can demonstrate that you already meet the learning outcomes, you may receive credit without completing formal study.

Credit Transfer (CT) applies when you have previously completed the same unit of competency (or an equivalent unit) at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or TAFE. You can provide evidence such as a Statement of Attainment or a testamur, and ACBI can confirm whether CT can be granted for those units.

How do I contact my trainer or student support?

Students can reach out to their trainers via email, in class or in their scheduled weekly support sessions. Trainer contact details are available in Moodle/Canvas on the relevant unit page.

If you require any additional help, support is also available from our student support services. To get in touch with student support, please email studentsupport@acbi.edu.au.
What if I need more time or have to pause my studies?
At ACBI we understand that personal circumstances may change. For information about your eligibility to pause or suspend your studies, please refer to the student deferment, suspension and cancellation policy and procedure form located in our student hub. You apply to extend your course or take a leave of absence using the appropriate form below:

If you wish to temporarily suspend your studies due to compassionate or compelling circumstances (e.g.medical issues, personal hardship, or other exceptional reasons), please complete a Suspension of Studies Request form.

If you are an international student who needs to be absent from class for up to four weeks, please complete a Student Leave Request form.

If you a domestic student who needs a longer timeframe to complete your studies, please complete a Domestic student course extension form

What support is available for job search or career development?

At ACBI we offer professional development workshops each term, both on-campus and online. In these workshops you will have the opportunity to learn resume, career, and job-search related skills that aim to help you enter the workforce with confidence. For information about upcoming workshops, keep an eye on your student emails.
How do I receive my graduation certificate and documents?

Once you have successfully completed your qualification and have achieved competency in all units, you will receive an email from student support informing you that you are eligible to collect your Graduation Certificate and academic transcripts. Certificates must be picked up on-campus or sent via post. Graduation Certificates cannot be issued online.
I have outstanding assessments. What do I need to do?
I need to travel during the term period, what do I need to do?

You can apply for a leave of absence through our Leave Request Form. A leave of absence during the term cannot exceed four weeks. You will also be asked to provide supporting documents, e.g., flight tickets, medical certificates, as well as having no outstanding fees and good academic progress.
What can I do if I need a payment extension or need to set up a payment plan?

If you need help managing your tuition fees, or setting up a payment plan, please contact myfees@acbi.edu.au. If you are facing financial hardship, please contact our team at studentsupport@acbi.edu.au as nonpayment of fees could result in cancellation of enrollment.
Where can I check my attendance?
What is the deadline for submitting my assessments?

If you are studying a qualification on-campus, the due date for your assessments is at the end of each unit. The last day of the term is the final assessment submission cut-off date for that term. To view the exact due dates for your assessment, please log into your student platform (e.g., Moodle or Canvas) and refer to assessment information within individual units. Please note that assessments submitted after the cut-off date may be subject to a reassessment fee.

If you are a domestic student studying a qualification online (e.g., a Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma course), your assessment due dates are detailed in your study plan. This study plan is provided to you by ACBI’s academic team at the start of your course. Depending on your course, you may also be able to see assessment due dates in your student platform (Moodle or Canvas).

ACBI monitors the academic progress of its students, and we can provide interventional support where required. If you need help with your assessments at any point, please make sure you contact your trainer. Your trainer can help guide you through your assessment questions. Contact information for your trainer can be found in the relevant units in your student platform (Moodle or Canvas).
I need an extension on my assessment. What should I do?
I can’t log in to one of my student portals. Can you please help?

Yes, we can. If you haven’t already, try resetting your password using the relevant ‘Reset my password’ link.

If after that you still require help accessing your Moodle, Canbas Thinkific or RTOManager account, please contact academicsupport@acbi.edu.au.

Do you offer in-person, online and on-site delivery options?

Yes, ACBI offers a range of flexible options for training. ACBI’s training can be delivered on-site at your workplace, at ACBI’s Sydney CBD campus and through flexible online learning. How do I become an ACBI agent?

To become an agent, you can submit an application via this form. Shortly after our team receives the application, we will review the application, check references and, if approved, you will be sent an agency agreement to sign. Once signed, you will be onboarded as an official ACBI agent and you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits that come with partnering with ACBI.

Diploma of Artificial Intelligence – Graduates of this course can enter into the second year of a Bachelor of Business (AI Management) at AIBI Higher Education.
Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security) – Graduates of this course can gain credit towards a Bachelor of Cyber Security at AIBI Higher Education.
Diploma of Information Technology – Graduates of this course can gain credit towards a Bachelor of Cyber Security at AIBI Higher Education.

How long does it take to receive an offer and CoE? 

Once we receive a finalised application with all necessary supporting documents and the application is approved, offers are typically issued within 24 hours. CoEs are issued within 24 hours after receiving the applicants signed Letter of Offer, Enrolment Acceptance Agreement and initial payment. 
What study modes are available for international students? 

International students are eligible to attend ACBI’s on-campus courses which are offered in a flexible delivery mode of 67% on-campus learning and 33% distance online learning. This flexible arrangement allows students to maintain a manageable study-work-life balance and make the most of their time living in Australia.
What additional documents may be requested as part of the Genuine Student assessment? 

Supporting documents may be requested by our admissions team. These documents may include evidence of financial capacity, employment history (e.g., resume), and a completed Genuine Student Questionnaire. The Admissions team screen applications for evidence of academic progression, course relevance, financial capacity, and genuine intent, aligned with the Genuine Student requirement that applies to all student visa (subclass 500) applications. 
Do you accept students from Level 2 and Level 3 RAL countries?

5. Become a Trainer FAQs

What do I need to become a trainer at ACBI?
ACBI is always on the lookout for great trainers. To become an ACBI trainer, you’ll need:

Current industry knowledge. For example, this may current knowledge of business, IT, leadership, AI, graphic design, sustainability, WHS or another area that ACBI provides training in.

Formal qualifications in the area that you wish to teach, such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE course page) to be able to mark students’ assessments and complete other important trainer responsibilities for qualification courses. If you don’t currently have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, ACBI may be able to help gain this qualification. Does ACBI offer full-time, part-time and casual roles?
Teaching opportunities may be available at ACBI on a full‑time, part‑time, or contract basis, including online facilitation and evening delivery for working professionals.

ACBI offers:

Domestic online classes where trainers provide weekly online support sessions, helping students with assessments and course content.

On campus classes at our Sydney CBD location. These classes occur in morning and evening sessions,supporting a mix of local and international students. These classes typically run 2–3 times per weekover 9-week terms for each qualification.

A number of short courses and corporate training options.
Regular online masterclasses and in-person workshops for students.

Can I use my ACBI qualification to pursue an undergraduate degree?

Yes, several ACBI qualifications provide foundational knowledge that prepares graduates for further undergraduate study. ACBI also maintains formal articulation arrangements with AIBI Higher Education, allowing eligible graduates to apply for credit toward related bachelor’s degree programs. In some cases, students can receive credit equivalent to up to one year of full-time study. Areas of study include business, information technology, leadership, artificial intelligence, digital marketing, and other disciplines.
Does ACBI have any student wellbeing and support partnerships?

Yes, at ACBI we understand the importance of mental wellbeing, particularly when balancing the stress of study, work, and personal commitments. To support our students’ wellbeing during their studies, ACBI has partnered with The Practice Wellbeing Centre, a free counselling service provided by Torrens University. Through this partnership, ACBI students can access up to ten free counselling sessions throughout their studies.
Does ACBI collaborate with any industry partners?

Absolutely, ACBI collaborates with leading organisations such as the Digital Tech Academy (DTA) to develop courses that are current and aligned with the latest industry skills and trends. ACBI’s collaboration partnership with DTA ensures that our students learn using the latest technologies and graduate with a skill set that matches what employers are searching for right now.
